Water quality: working towards a healthy and safe swimming industry

A lot has happened in the swimming pool industry. The coronavirus pandemic and the energy crisis have left their mark, and sustainability is playing an increasingly important role. One of the current priorities is to develop smarter methods for cleaning filters and significantly reducing the consumption of make-up water, without compromising water quality. In the field of water treatment, the greatest energy savings can currently be achieved by changing the water. The less water you use for this, the less you need to heat. As a chemical engineer, Ludo Feyen is an expert in the field of chemical and bacteriological water analysis. With his company Labo Derva, he provides advice on water treatment and legionella issues, monitors quality and hygiene in subtropical swimming paradises around the world, and is involved in the construction of new swimming pool complexes. He was also part of the European Commission's technical working group on swimming pools, which was involved in the Environmental Act that has been in force in the Netherlands since January. Thanks to his many years of knowledge and expertise, Feyen has a deep understanding of current and future developments. In this knowledge session, he shares his vision on how the swimming pool industry can remain healthy and safe in these changing times.
